Blake Pieper - Marketing and Technology
Who are you? -What do you want people to know about you?
I am a recent graduate from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in marketing. I currently work with marketing and technology for an online retailer of vitamins, supplements, and organic products. I have a passion for music and I play several instruments. I enjoy recording, producing, and performing music as well.
What is your part in VM- how did you get here? How long have you been involved in VM?
I recently joined the team to assist in marketing, technology, and other related functions. I am excited to join such a passionate team and I am looking forward to helping others enjoy music!
What is your best moment with music?
In college I DJ-ed at the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher sporting events for two years. After one of the games a Gopher fan came up to the announcers table and thanked myself and the rest of my colleagues for helping make the game such a good experience. As we were packing up to leave that night, we talked about how amazing it was to be able to be a part of the action and how fun the game was. I realized then how fortunate I was to be able to be a part of that organization and all of the other groups that allowed me to express my love for music.
Who are the musicians/bands you listen to? Why?
I listen to a wide variety of genres, but my top three are indie rock, indie electronic, and EDM. A few of my favorite acts are Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem, the Killers, the Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, Deadmau5, and Florence and the Machine. I love listening to these artists pour their heart and soul into elegant masterpieces, zany dance grooves, and powerful melodies.
Robert Moog invented one of the first Electronic Synthesizers to be sold commercially. These Moog synthesizers were featured on a variety of popular records at the time. In 1967 R.A. Moog Company was incorporated and came to revolutionize the industry with the "Moog" Modular Synthesizer.
