I am honored to be a part of Viva Musica. I believe in the mission, values and goals of a non-profit that wishes to inspire young musicians and artists while keeping the arts in our schools. I grew up in a small community where the art and music were very important. We had an amazing art department in our small school and I had the opportunity to be a member of our high school band. I loved learning new pieces of music, sometimes struggling measure by measure, but realizing how awesome it was when the entire band came together as one when it was performance time. Music has taught me to think creatively, and has brought me much joy. I’m thankful my children got to experience the same in their school art and orchestra programs. Sadly, not all children get this opportunity and less so all the time, as budgets are slashed and the arts seem to always be the first to go.
It is especially excited that Viva Musica has teamed up with Rick Doten and the Lucille Project. I am a huge fan of BB King! I’m very excited to be part of Viva Musica, giving inspiring young musicians the ability to connect them with their passion for a lifetime of enjoyment.
