Sarah Olson - Coordination Assistant
Who are you? -What do you want people to know about you?
Currently, I am a law student at Hamline University School of Law, and active music enthusiast. Although I work as a paralegal, I also teach piano lessons through St. Paul Community Education. I have played piano for fourteen years branching from classical to rock and now jazz with various collaborations. In addition to music, I enjoy riding horses, gardening, reading, photography, painting, and backpacking.
What is your part in VM- how did you get here? How long have you been involved in VM?
For years, I’ve loved attending, playing at, and sharing the love of art at Viva Musica Events from Zorbaz to Famous Daves. From playing for the event goers to donating a guitar and other goodies, I’ve loved the musical endeavors VM offers and look forward to the great events to come. With years experience in the Minnesota music scene, I enjoy helping VM with event details such as musician coordination, program promotion, sound system set up/take down, venue scouting, and any additional help I can offer with experience in the legal and entertainment industry.
Who are the musicians/bands you listen to? Why?
I have an undeniable affinity for jazz and such artists as Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, Foreign Motion, Fred Hersch, and so many more. I appreciate all forms of art and expression through music and love local Minnesota musicians like Brother Ali, Atmosphere, City of Sound, Karl Remus, and again so many more. Music is simply endlessly enjoyable and can make any average day extraordinary.
Something Interesting: A third grade student of mine once said, “What if the world..like...Didn’t have any music? It wouldn’t have any Ba-Bang!” I couldn’t agree with her more. Music adds that special Pizazz to the normal morning drive, during a special night out, or the perfect background while studying those long law school books.
